The public areas are in a large tent-like structure with canvas sides that are rolled up during the day. In the evenings a campfire on the veranda is the focal point for guests who enjoy drinks and exchange stories before dinner. We also have internet access available!
Sekenani Camp offers an authentic bush experience for visitors wishing to get close to nature. Set at the source of Sekenani River, the camp offers a serene environment in which to relax, unwind and enjoy all the Mara has to offer. It comprises fifteen exceptionally well-designed tents set well apart to ensure maximum privacy. Each tent has a wooden floor and en-suite bathroom complete with a full-length bathtub. A combination of luxury and adventure, Sekenani Camp invites you to experience the Mara.
The bar stocks a wide range of international and local brands. The kitchen produces delicious fresh meals with many ingredients harvested from our own organic vegetable garden. The garden is not only a source of fresh vegetables for our consumption; it serves as an example to our community of what can be grown locally.
Game viewing is the primary reason and one of the activities for most people to visit the reserve. However, many people also enjoy going for a bushwalk escorted by our Maasai Guides. The hills behind the camp are the highest in all of the Mara and the view of the surrounding county side is simply spectacular. We also have bush dinners and sundowners which can be pre-arranged as per clients’ needs. Balloon Safaris and a visit to Maasai village can also be organized. We have custom designed 4×4 Toyota Land Cruisers with three roof hatches that provide ideal vehicles for game viewing and photography. These vehicles can handle almost every terrain one could possibly encounter in the Maasai Mara. Sekenani Camp has a pool and guests can enjoy a few laps during the hot afternoons.
Sekenani Camp is 90 kilometers from Narok town and 250 kilometers from Nairobi. The drive time from Nairobi is about 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic. For those wishing to go by air, the closest airstrip is at Keekorok. The flight from Nairobi takes about fifty minutes.
