U Shaka Marine World is a 16 hectare theme park in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is situated between a beachfront and harbour. It was opened in 2004 and received recongnition in 2005 for Outstanding Achievement in thematic creative design. There are various options when it comes to having fun at U Shaka Marine World, including uShaka Sea World, uShaka Wt'n Wild, uShaka Beach and uShaka Village Walk.
UShaka Sea World is the fifth largest aquarium in the world. It houses various shark species including ragged-tooth sharks, catsharks, hammerhead sharks as well as large rays including local moray, eagle rays, honeycomb morays, loca gamefish and large fish such as kingfish and cobia. UShaka hosts dolphin shows, which are excellent opportunities to see beautiful dolphins hop in and out of water in a rythmic fashion. You can also take part in an animal encounter, which is an underwater adventure that involves snorkelling in the lagoon with about 1500 fish. A scuba diving course is available at the aquarium a well for people above 10 years old. Certified divers can also dive into the open lagoon with rays and pelagic fish.
While at uShaka Wet'n Wild, hop onto a lazy river ride that goes through the ship wreck at the park, past some tanks and to speed lines. This section has a huge grass area for relaxation as well as restaurants. UShaka Beach on the other hand boasts of warm sand beaches and a large pier leading out to te ocean. UShaka Village Walk is designed like an African village and has cafes, restaurants and shops.
