Mount Nimba Reserve is a protected area and UNESCO World Heritage Site situated on the borders of Ivory Coast, Liberia and Guinea. Its slopes are covered by dense forest with grassy mountain pastures at the foot making the surrounding quite pictresque. The reserve harbour vast flora and fauna, with endemic species such as chimpanzees and the viviparous toad.
Nimba has been listed as a Wolrd Heritage Site in Danger by UNESCO. For years, the area has been under threat to poaching, threat from bush meat as well as removal of plants for medicinal purposes.
