Kinondoni District is one of the three districts in Dar es Salaam. Located in the northern part of Dar es Salaam region, the district occupies an area of approximately 531 sq km. Kinondoni is the most populated of the three districts.
The original occupants of Kinondoni were the Zaramo and Ndengereko but this has changed with time and the urbanization of the district making it a multi-ethnic environment.
