"Uneven and inconsistent experience would be an understatement"

Overall, very mixed feelings. The setting and the architecture are wonderful. The interior design of the villas, and in particular of the only one restaurant leaves much to be desired. The restaurant furniture are worthy a road-side nyama choma joint, certainly no sense of aesthetics, what kind of design goes well in a place which aspires to be high-end and swahili-influenced. Cheap serviettes are tucked into a whiskey glass. Lightbulbs emitting cold white light, however, take one to a warehouse or a factory floor. To top it all of there are cables snaking around the floor, part of the restaurant appears to be used as a storage with cushions piled on top of one another on one of the chairs. Complimentary bread that is served before the meal is some pathetic fluff presented in a Nakumatt-style plastic (wooden?) basket. The beach bar however, is excellent, feels authentic and the decor is certainly much more adequate. Would we come back? To Vipingo Ridge, no. To the beach bar, yes.
