Busia Town, Uganda
Busia is a small town situated in Eastern Uganda. It is the administrative centre of Busia District, and it shares a border with the similarly named town in Kenya. The town is 200km away from the capital of Uganda, Kampala, the largest city in the country.
The main economic activity of the town is cross border trading. It trades with its sister city Busia in Kenya, and it has the highest percentage of exports and imports in cross border trading of all the border towns in Uganda.
Places to visit in Busia Town
The Majanji Landing Site is a fish landing at Lake Victoria, Africa's largest Lake. It is situated about 27km south of Busia. It is a great place for fishing and boat rides.
Another great place to visit in Busia is the Busitema Forest, a forest reserve with different species of plants and animals. The forest is home to baboons, monkeys, different bird species, and various tree species.
