About Iringa Region
Iringa is one of the 30 administrative regions in Tanzania. Iringa Town serves as the region's capital. Iringa is further divided into 3 regions parts namely; Mufindi, Iringa and Kilolo.
A considerable part of Iringa was lost to the creation of Niombe Region. The region is home to Udzungwa Mountains National Park and Ruaha National Park which is Tanzania's second largest park with an abundance of wildlife and over 7,500 visitors per year.
Iringa is renowned for its woven baskets made from reeds, it is a major export product from the region. The award winning Neema Crafts Centre is located in Iringa. Several institutions of learning are located in the in Iringa, some of these include: Iringa University College, Tumaini University, Mkwawa University College of Education and Ruaha University College.
