Louga is a region in the north western part of Senegal. The region is divided into 3 departments namely Linguere, Kebemer and Louga town. Louga serves a junction station on the Dakar-Niger Railway network. The region has his roads and rail linked with the port city of Saint Louis and Dakar. It also serves as a cattle market centre. The area is mainly inhabited by Fulani who are nomads, the Wolof farmers who cultivate peanuts and groundnut.
