Oyo State, Nigeria
Oyo is a land of history; it is located at the southwestern part of Nigeria. Yoruba is a large ethnic group in Nigeria, they are the main inhabitants of this land since BCE, and also where their existence documentation began. Ibadan has been the capital city of the Oyo since its existence. The Peace Setter as its nicknamed included Osun State initially before the fragmentation in early 90s. The kings of Oyo are known as Alaafin of Oyo, which is one of the notable kings in Yoruba land. The Oyo Empire has become an important state in West Africa since its establishment in the 14th century.

History of Oyo State
Oyo State was created out of the large western state in Nigeria during the state creation in 1976, the sate consist of over 30 local government areas. The people of Oyo can be from any of this five groups Ibadan, Oke-Ogun, Ogbomosho, Ibarapa and Oyo town. Oyo State holds the first ever built skyscraper in Africa which is known as the Cocoa house, the first television station in Africa known as NTA Ibadan is built in Oyo and also the first ever football stadium in Africa called the Liberty Stadium was built in the state. Oyo is truly the home of history.
Educations in Oyo State
In 1948 University of Ibadan was created as a college of University of London until 1962 when it became a proper university on its own. The institution has created an image for itself as one of the best educational institution in West Africa. There over 300 registered secondary schools and over a thousand registered primary schools in the state.

The major tourism centers in Oyo state like the Agbele Hill, Agodi Botanical Garden, the Suspended Lake in Ado-Awaye, Oke-Ogun Natural Park, the Mapo Hall built on Mapo hill, the Zoological Garden at University of Ibadan, and the Cultural Centre built on Mokola Hill and so on…… all have interesting history behind its existence.
