ABOUT OLUMO ROCK
Olumo rock is popular tourist attraction located in Abeokuta, Ogun State in Nigeria. The rock served as fortress for the Egba people and a point to monitor the enemies during the invasion of the town in the 19th Century by the Dahomey people now known as the present day Benin kingdom. The rock is viewed by some as the deity who protected the Egba people and made them triumph during the war. Renovations made in 2006 led to the installation and addition of some facilities and infrastructures; an elevator, a new museum, water fountain and restaurants. A tour guide is always available to share the history of the rock and the rich culture of the people.
