About Karu, Nassarawa
Karu is a suburb of Nassarawa that shares close proximity with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This satellite town came into existence in 2003 when the then FCT minister’s plan to prevent the decline of infrastructure in the capital territory as a result of overpopulation, demolished lots of illegal structures. This demolition drove people to resettle in nearby towns with Karu being one of these towns. As a result of its close proximity to FCT, this suburb has experienced a fast growth over the past years. This residential area is home to middle income workers who find accommodation in Abuja too expensive. Karu is bordered by nearby towns such as One Man Village, New Karu, Ado, Kurunduma, New Nyanya and Gidan Zakara. Karu is connected to Abuja by an expressway owned by the federal government of Nigeria.
