Kano is a city in Nigeria, the capital of Kano State in Northern Nigeria and the second largest city in Nigeria after Lagos, located in the Sahelian geographic region south of the Sahara. Kano was originally known as Dala, after a residual hill in Kano, which was the site of an hunting and gathering community that engaged in iron work. Major inhabitants of the city are the Hausa people. Kano has six districts namely the Old City, Bompai, Fagge, Sabon Gari, Syrian Quarter, and Nassarawa.
