ABOUT CALABAR NATIONAL MUSEUM
Calabar National Museum is situated in Calabar city, Nigeria. The museum was once the house of a colonial governor, the building overlooks the river and it still maintains the garden from those days. Calabar has a long history of colonial rule and the museum has fascinating collections and documents from that era as well as artefacts from the Efik Kingdom, the slave and palm oil trade. A big library in the museum holds legal and constitutional documents from the colonial past in their original forms. The upper floor containing the original furnishings of the time is still been preserved.
