Things to Do in Western Kenya
Western Kenya is home to a diverse collection of tourist attractions though less popular to the neighbouring Rift Valley. Though an intensively farm area, Western Kenya has much of the country's natural resources in forest reserves and wetlands that are home to rare species. For instance, Mount Elgon rivals Mt. Kenya in everything except for the numbers being an extinct volcano, the largest and oldest solitary volcano in East Africa. Also situated around it is Mount Elgon National Park excellent for hiking and camping.
Lake Victoria is another major attraction in Western Kenya being Africa’s largest fresh lake. The most popular town around Lake Victoria is Kisumu and it is close to Busia. The Kakamega Rain Forest is a must visit, it is one of Western Kenya's star attractions. You can also visit various parks and game reserves spread across Western Kenya.
