Turkana County is in northwestern border of Kenya and South Sudan. Turkana is the largest county in the country with a land area of about 71,597.8 square kilometres.
This county is basically inhabited by the Turkana tribe, which is a pastoralist community. Towns in this county include Lokichogio, Oropol, Lodwar and Kalokol.
Most people in the county are farmers rearing cattle and there are reports of the presence of oil in the region.

Lake Turkana is within Turkana County. This lake is the largest permanent desert and alkaline lake in the world, and it is also the fourth largest salt lake by volume. Visit the lake on sightseeing and fishing expeditions.
There are 50 species of fish present there. Also present in and around the lake are crocodiles, and plenty other reptiles alongside hundreds of species of birds.
Islands to visit in Lake Turkana are Central Island, North Island and South Island.
The Sibiloi National Park is also in Turkana County.
