Visiting Kisumu Town
Kisumu town is the largest, and most popular in Kisumu County. It is also the capital of this county in the western part of the country. Kisumu is Kenya's third largest city, and this county is the second largest of the main regions in the greater Lake Victoria Basin.
Kisumu was founded as the main inland terminal during the construction of the Kenya-Uganda Railway. By then, Kisumu was known as Port Florence.
Interesting Things to do in Kisumu
Kisumu has the most magical views of Lake Victoria, which is shared by three countries in East Africa. In addition to scenic sundowners on the shores, visitors go fishing on Dunga Beach.
For a wildlife safari, Kisumu has Impala Sanctuary, which is home to impalas, hippos, buffalos, baboons, hyenas and zebras. You can combine a tour of this sanctuary with a trip to any of the lake's islands.
You should also see the Kisumu National Museum, where unique animals love. Make sure you see the cultural galleries, weapons, jewellery and the traditional attire of the Western and Nyanza people of Kenya. This museum also has a variety of aquatic species found in Lake Victoria.
