About Karen Blixen Museum
The Karen Blixen Museum is situated at the foothills of the scenic Ngong Hills, about 10km away from Nairobi's city centre. This museum occupies a farm house that was the home of the famous Danish author Karen Blixen. The farm house came to the spotlight because of Karen's book Out of Africa, a chronicle of her life on the farm. The house was a gift from the Danish government to the Kenyan government after Kenya's independence and it was opened to the public in 1986. The Danish government had purchased it in 1966.
