The Eastern Province of Kenya‘s capital is Embu. Its sub-provinces are central eastern with Meru as headquarters, the lower eastern with Machakos as headquarters and upper eastern with Marsabit as headquarters. This province is the principal home to the Kamba, Meru and other pastoral communities. Eastern Kenya has the river is Ewaso Ng'iro flowing through its settlement. The Ewaso Ng’iro River rises on the west side of Mount Kenya passing through Somalia where it joins the Jubba.
The Eastern Kenya Province’s main thoroughfares are highways A2 Nairobi-Moyabe, A109 Mombasa-Nairobi, and B9. The province is also accessible by air travel. It hosts airports in Embu, Garba Tula, Mulika, Isiolo, Kitui, Lodge of Meru, Marsabit and Oda of Moyale.
