Savanes is a region in the northern part of Cote D’Ivoire. It consist of four departments within it, which include Boundiali, Ferkessedougou, Korhogo and Tingrela, where Korhogo is Savanes capital city. The region is close to Mali and Burkina Faso. Savanes region is said to have an estimated population of 1,388,142 as of 2012. Korhogo is the most developed city in Savanes also the fourth largest city in Cote D’Ivoire. The Savanes Region economy is primarily based on Agriculture and mining.
Attractions in Savanes
The major attraction in this region is the Comoe National Park, a small section of this park falls under the Savanes Region. It is a world heritage site and a major tourist destination in the region. Several protect animals and plants can be found here, a few are African Dwaf Crocodile, African Wild Dog, African Elephants, Roloway Monkey and many more. It is a beautiful place to see amazing wildlife.
