Lagunes Region, Ivory Coast
Lagunes is a region in the West African country of Ivory Coast. The region covers an area of about 14,200 square kilometres and is further divided into departments such as Dabou, Tiassale and Jacqueville.
Lagunes, which in French literally translates to lagoons, got its name from its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and the presence of several lagoons. The region alone accounts for over 30 percent of the country’s population. The two biggest cities in the country, Abobo and Abidjan, are located in the region. Other cities in the region include N’douci and Alepe.

Hook some fish at any of the numerous lagoons in the region and brag about the size of your catch. Visit Abidjan, which is the de facto capital of the country and see the different museums in the city such as the National Museum and the Cocody Municipal Museum. Also in the city, you will find the Parc du Banco rainforest reserve and the amazing Bassam Beach. In Tiassale, you will find the Ahouakro Archaeological Park.
