About Cape Coast Metro
The Cape Coast Metro forms part of the twenty Metropolitan, Municipalities and Districts in the Central Region of Ghana. It is situated south to the Gulf of Guinea and is the smallest metropolitan in the country with Cape Coast as the administrative capital.
Cape Coast Metro was founded by the people of Oguaa. Cape Coast grew around Cape Coast Castle which was later built by the Portuguese, now a World Heritage Site.
The area is dominated by batholith rock and is generally undulating with steep slopes. There are valleys of various streams between the hills, with Kakum being the largest stream.
