About South Omo
South Omo, locally known as Debab Omo, is a zone in the Ethiopian Southern Nations, Nationalities and People's Region. It got its name from the Omo River, which flows through it and drains into Kenya's Lake Turkana. Omo River is the main source of water to the inhabitants of South Omo. South Omo was declared a UNESCO site after the earliest known Homo Sapien fossil fragments were discovered in the region.
