Bandundu is located in Bandundu Province on the east bank of the Kwango River in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is the capital of Bandundu province and home of about 133,000 people. The town was formerly known as Banningville and was an important river port as the town is crossed by river confluences. Bandundu has gorgeous landscapes and it’s a quiet town ideal for a relaxed vacation. You can fly into the town from Kinshasa or fly to the airport in Kikwit and connect to the town through the waterway.
From the town, you can have a view of the stretch of River Kwilu. Kwango and Kasai River are to be seen too. Other places to visit are the fishing port at Salamita and the Inga dam nearby which is said to be responsible for the relatively constant electricity in the town.
