Located in south western Burkina Faso, Banfora is a town lying south-west of Bobo-Dioulasso. The town is the capital of the Comoe Province with a population of about 95,000 people. Around 1904, Banfora became an administrative center for the French colonialist. Today, the economy of the town is centered on its sugar cane industry and tourism. There is a railroad station in the town along the Abidjan – Ouagadougou Railway.
