Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a non-profit animal sanctuary situated in Nakasongola District in the Kafue River Basin. The aim of this sanctuary is to create a safe environment for the rhinos, where they can multiply and are conserved for the furure generation. Apart from the rhinos, there are other animals in the sanctuary.
This animal sanctuary is a-must visit as it is home to Uganda's only rhinos. Get an experienced guide to (closely and safely) track these amazing animals as they tell you their names. Some of the other animals to view in the sanctuary are hippos, crocodiles, antelopes and monkeys.
For the bird lovers, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is home to over 250 bird species including some rare birds and the endangered Shoebill Stork. Some of the other fun activities to engage in the sanctuary include canoe safaris, camping, guided nature walks, night walks where you will be able to view the leopards or Aardvarks.
