Ukunda is the coastal twin town to Diani in Kwale County in Kenya. Ukunda Town is reknowned for the Kaya forests located at Likunda, Kinondo, Tibwa, Mivumoni and Chale.
Mwachema river borders Ukunda in the north while Makongeni in the South. The town is a commercial centre supporting the tourism industry in Diani, Galu and Kinondo beaches.
Though there is little or nothing to see or do, Ukunda Town makes up with local eateries that serve the delicious Swahili dishes. visiting the nearby Diani Beach is a must do when in Ukunda. The white sand beach of Diani Beach is amazing and attracts tourists. You can take a trip around the town appreciating rural living and the nature environment.
Mama Paolo’s Orphanage is another place tourists might want to visit.
The town is about 32km from Mombasa and can be easily reached by taking the Ferry at Likoni. Ukunda Airstrip serves flights from Nairobi's Wilson Airport to Diani Beach.
