The Three Dikgosi Monument is a bronze sculpture of three tribal chiefs (dikgosi) in Gaborone city. The 5-metre tall monument is the sculptures of Sebele I, Bathoen I, and Khama III who were commemorated in 2005. They're celebrated for their efforts in pleading with the Queen in 1885 for Bechuanaland (Botswana) to remain under the crown instead of being incorporated into the British South Africa Company. Though not contributing towards independence, the request by the three Tswana Chiefs proved useful as Botswana was not included in South African apartheid.
Tour Gaborone City and make a stop at its Central Business District to view the Three Dikgosi Monument. Some events such as the Miss Independence Botswana are held on the monument.
