Temeke district is the largest district in Dar es Salaam region covering an area of about 656sq km. Temeke district is located to the south of Dar es Salaam city and it is surrounded by various wards, including Kigamboni, Yombo Vituka, Keko, Rangi Tatu among others.
Temeke area is heavily engaged in small scale farming, trading and fishing. It is also considered as a manufacturing centre since it holds most of the industries in Dar es Salaam. The largest port in Tanzania, Dar es Salaam Port which serves 6 other neighbouring countries, is also found here. Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair Grounds are all to be found in Temeke district.
