Olumo Rock is one of the popular tourist attractions in Nigeria. It is believed that the citizens of Egbaland, a community in Abeokuta, took their cover under this rock during the civil war that took place in the 19th century. Olumo Rock lies in the center of the ancient city of Abeokuta. The name Olumo means “troubles and sufferings are all over”. The rock is nature’s large monument made from indigenous materials. The highest point of the rock is at a height of 137 meters above sea level. From an angular view, the rock looks like a “behemoth” sitting down. It also has the from of a female mammoth shielding her brood.
