When the hustle and bustle of Mombasa gets too much, do like the locals do and head over the Nyali Bridge to the seaside area of Nyali Beach. This lies in a beautiful part of Kenya, within the Mombasa Marine Reserve. The white, sandy, powdery beach has been left in its wild state with a dense growth of palm trees.
The beach is a great place for all kinds of water-sports and is preferred by all sorts of surfers; kitesurfers, windsurfers and board surfers. The beach is especially good for diving and snorkeling, as there is a coral reef off the shore.
Nyali Beach is a peaceful, residential area that has lots of facilities like shopping malls, supermarkets and a cinema multiplex.
Apart from spending time on the beach or in the crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean, fun things to do include a visit to nearby Mamba Village, which is East Africa’s largest crocodile farm.
Just a few kilometres away is the famous Nguuni Nature Sanctuary, where you can get close to some of Kenya’s amazing wildlife.
