Nakuru, being the 4th largest city in Kenya and strategically situated between Nairobi and Western Kenya, serves as a transit destination for many travellers. It is located about three hours away from Nairobi. Nakuru’s weather is favourable all year round, and there are many great places to visit within and around this region.
Nakuru is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Kenya as the regions around the town are not only agriculturally rich but also with a wide range of tourist attractions.
You can visit Nakuru any time of the year; however expect traffic during long weekends and over the festive seasons such as Christmas and Easter. Nakuru is served by the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway. Additionally, this road extends to the other towns in the Rift Valley such as Baringo, Eldoret and Naivasha.
From Nairobi, board a matatu off the busy Tom Mboya Street or on Kirinyaga Road. Fare costs between Ksh. 400 and Ksh. 600.
From Kisumu, Ksh. 600 and From Eldoret Ksh.400.
The journey from either city is roughly 3 hours but can be more due to traffic on the highway.
