Mwea National Reserve is a small park yet home to a variety of biodiversity as the rivers Tana and Thiba meet in the park. The reserve which is located in Mbeere Town, Embu County, is made up of hills with thick bush vegetation as well as acacia and baobab trees. The uniqueness of Mwea Reserve is the ecosystem which comprises of rivers Tana and Thiba that intersect as well as Kamburu and Masinga hydro-electric dams that harbour variety of biodiversity.

If driving from Nairobi use Thika road to turn onto Embu Road. After 5 kms, turn right where there is a sign indicaating way to the reserve. After 28kms, turn right. Continue straight to Makima Gate.
