Mwanza is a beautiful port city found on the southern shores of Lake Victoria in Tanzania. Being the second largest city in the country and the capital of Mwanza Region, Mwanza is at the economic heart of this lake region. It was discovered in the 18th Century. The city makes a great starting point for a safari to Serengeti National Park.
Mwanza city is accessible by air using Mwanza Airport, which is 10km away from the city centre
By bus, you can get to Mwanza from any major towin in Tanzania such as Arusha and Dar es Salaam. But since Tazania is a large country, be prepared to spend long hours in a cramped bus or pay a little extra to the East African Bus Companies.
Get around the city using train, buses (dala dalas), motorcycles (boda bodas) and ferries.
The best time to visit Mwanza city is from June to October when the temperatures are comfortable.
