Murang’a is in the central region of Kenya, about 74km from Nairobi.
The Kikuyu people are the majority in this region, and the main economic activity is farming. One noteworthy landmark is Murang’a Technical College.
Murang’a town boasts of a district general hospital, located in the northern corner of the town.
Most part of that area was called Fort Hall. Muranga town is the administrative centre of Muranga County.
