About Mount Meru
Meru Catchment Forest Reserve commonly known as the Meru Forest Reserve is a forest reserve found in Tanzania. The Meru Forest Reserve is located 20 km north of Arusha City. Meru Forest covers the outer slopes of Mount Meru the second highest mountain in Tanzania after Mount Kilimanjaro.
Mount Meru's fertile slopes rise above the surrounding savanna and support a forest that holds diverse wildlife, including nearly 400 species of birds, monkeys and leopards.
Enjoy awesome views of Mount Meru though most of the mountain lies on Arusha National Park. Mount Meru has an impressive variety of wildlife and diverse vegetation.
You could also go for a walking safari into the forest reserve and climb up to the foothills of Mt. Meru, crossing the beautiful natural forest which is harbours many species of birds, plants and monkeys.
