Mnemba Island is a small private owned island located at about 3km of the northeast coast of Ungunja, across Muyuni Beach.
The beach is surrounded by an oval reef which is about seven by four kilometres in extent and has been declared a Marine Conservation area. Mnemba island is about 90 minutes from Stone Town.
Attractions around Mnemba Island The island is a popular scuba diving site which also holds a wide variety of corals as well as occasional sightings turtles and dolphins. It is a nesting place for endangered green turtles, Humpback whales, Whale sharks which is the world’s largest fish, 600 species of coral reef fish, migratory and resident shore birds.
