Meru Town is the administrative capital of Meru County which is a top destination in the Eastern region of Kenya. It lies a short distance from the Equator, on the foothills of Mount Kenya with the Kathita River cutting through the town. The business centre takes prides in having one of the largest open air market - Gakoromone - in the Comesa region.
Mount Kenya has several mountain climbing routes including the famous Chogoria Route in Meru.
From Meru, you can reach attractions in Northern Kenya such as Samburu and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. In addition to Mount Kenya, the other main attraction in Meru is Meru National Park.
Other places of interest include Meru National Museum where the diverse cultures and heritage among the Meru community are kept. Semwe Salt lick, Vivvien Falls, Meru Bandas and Sacred Lake.
