Mbale is a city located in Mbale District in the Eastern Region of Uganda. The city is the main municipal, commercial and administrative centre of the district. It is about 253 kilometres from Kampala, the capital city of Uganda.
The population of this area is majorly rural, with major ethnic groups being the Bagisu and the Bamasaba. The main language spoken in Mbale is Lumasaba.
The population depends on agricultural activities. The farmers in Mbale produce coffee, maize, potatoes, beans for sale and sustenance.
