The lagoon of Somone is located in the small village of Somone, in Senegal. Classified as a nature reserve, it covers an area of 700 hectares and is home to several species of migratory birds, fish and lush vegetation made up of mangroves.
Lagoon de la Somone is a sanctuary of the migratory birds. You can watch the birds furing your walk, by boat or canoe on the lagoon, which has pelicans, silver herons, egrets, flamingos and other birds that stroll on the waters filled with mangroves.
Swimming in the Somone lagoon is prohibited due to the ebb and strong sea currents.
