Located in western Uganda near Lake George, Kasese is a popular tourist destination, with plenty of natural attractions, wildlife watching opportunities and sports and activities to try in the nearby area. The town itself is a bustling industrial centre with lively shopping streets, places to eat and entertainment venues.
The town houses the second largest cement factory in the country, Hima Cement Limited, and is also home to Kasese Cobalt Company Limited and Kilembe Mines Limited. The town is also at the end of the railway from Kampala, making it a handy place to explore the whole of western Uganda. Kasese is often visited as a transit town to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Rwenzori National Park.
Visitors to this town will never be bored. You could take a 4x4 tour of the nearby Rwenzori Mountains, which has a UNESCO world heritage designation and features stunning peaks, dramatic valleys and gorgeous flowers like giant lobelias.
Lake George is another attraction, with its fertile fisheries, while the Queen Elizabeth National Park is just north of the lake and is a great place to spot hippos, elephants and buffaloes. From beautiful scenery to awe-inspiring animals, Kasese has it all. The Old Kasese Train Station is one of the places tourists can also visit. Kasese has a bubbling nightlife that tourists will enjoy while in the town.
