Kanungu is a green, pleasant city in western Uganda that is in the heart of some of the country's most beautiful countryside. The local economy is dominated by tea growing, so if you are a fan of tea, plantation tours and tasting sessions can be arranged at all times of year. The local cuisine is a another highlight thanks to the region's fertile fruit orchards and sorghum fields, which is turned into delicious bread and sweets by local chefs.
Visiting Kanungu is a wonderful idea for people who want to witness the sheer beauty of rural Uganda. A world away from Kampala, this western district is characterised by stunningly beautiful hillsides and valleys, and you can rent 4x4 vehicles to see it all. While you are there, don't miss the Ekitaguriro dances of local Bakiga people, and check out the gorilla reserve in the nearby Bwindi Forest.
