Kalangala Island, one of the Ssese Islands is located in the southern part of Central Uganda. The town is named after the district.
The district is made up of eighty four islands in the north-western part of Lake Victoria of which only forty three are inhabited.

Board the MV Kalangala ferry at Entebbe port which has daily departures in the early afternoon. There is also a ferry that connects to Kalangala islands from the mainland Masaka district.
