The Independence Square, now officially called the Black Stars Square is plenty of history in Ghana. The Black Star Square an awesome park and the second largest of its kind in the world. The Black Star Square lies between the Accra Sports Stadium and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. The Square is a popular tourist attraction in Accra.
The Independence Square Accra has been in existence since it was commissioned by President Kwame Nkrumah in 1961. The Black Star Square is the venue for the Independence Day Parade and Celebrations as well as other major National events like the Inauguration ceremony for a new President of Ghana.
The Independence Square Accra can be filled to a capacity of 30,000 people. The Square also contains the Independence Arch, Liberation Monument and the Asomdwee Park.
