Hell's Gate National Park, set in the Great Rift Valley, was thus named for the intense geothermal activity within the park.
Why you should visit
Hell's Gate National Park is famous worldwide for its scenic rock formations and gorges formed from continous water erosion. These features make the park an excellent destination for mountain biking, rock climbing and nature walks. Climbing gear is not offered at the park and as such visitors bring their own.
A must see is the Hell's Gate Gorge that runs through the park to the 25m-high Fischer's Tower, a volcanic column named after a German explorer.
At Hell's Gate National Park do you get to meet eye to eye the plain wild animals such as a buffalo or a giraffe while walking or cycling.
