Cyangugu formerly called Cyangugu is a beautiful city in Rizizi District, Rwanda. It is the capital city of the Rizizi District. The city situated on the end on Lake Kivu and also shares borders with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The city is divided into two sections Cyangugu and Kamembe, where Kamembe is the major commercial area in the city.
You can visit the Lake Kivu, it is one of Africa’s Great Lakes, the lake empties into the Ruzizi River which flow into Lake Tanganyika. The lake borders Rwanda and Congo, it is a fresh water lake and has over 28 species of fish within it.
The Nyungwe National Park is a great place to visit, it is situated within the Nyungwe Rain Forest. It is home to a wide variety of primates and different bird species. here you can go hiking, primate tracking, bird watching and many more other activities.
Motorbikes and Taxis are the main medium of transportation in Cyangugu. Cyangugu also has an airport in Kamembe that severs it.
