The Cross River National Park, situated in Cross River State is a national park of Nigeria. The park has two separate sections namely Oban (built in 1988) and Okwangwo (built in 1991). The park sits on a total land area of 4000 km2 ,which consists majorly of mangrove swamps on the coastal zones and moist tropical rainforests in the northern and central parts. Some parts of the park is within the Guinea Congolian region, and has a closed canopy with scattered towering trees reaching a height of up to 40 or 50 meters. Apart from having one of the oldest rainforests in Africa, the park has also been recognized as a biodiversity hotspot. Up to sixteen primate species have been identified in the park. The Cross River National Park has potential for ecotourism.
