The Cathedral Church of Christ Marina, popularly called CMS Cathedral Lagos, is an Anglican cathedral located in Lagos Island, Lagos, Nigeria. The first stone for the foundation of the first cathedral building was laid on March 29th 1867 and the church was built in 1869. however, the construction of the current building commenced on 1 November 1924 and it was patterned after the designs by architect Bagan Benjamin. The first stone was laid by the Prince of Wales on 21 April 1925 and the cathedral was completed in 1946. CMS Cathedral is the first Anglican Cathedral in the Church of Nigeria. At different times in the history of CMS Cathedral Lagos, it was the seat of the archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos, the seat of the archbishop and primate of all Nigeria and the seat of the archbishop of the Province of West Africa.
