The Bazaruto Archipelago is a combination of five beautiful islands; Bazaruto the largest, Benguerra, Magaruque, Santa Carolina (Paradise Island) and Bangue that form Bazaruto Marine Reserve. The islands are located off the coast of Vilanculos.
The Islands have white sandy beaches that form huge dunes, a unique eco-system of forests and savannah, inland lakes and wetlands together with coral reefs that sustain over 2000 species of fish.
There is a natural pool referred to as The Aquarium where a diverse marine life thrives namely Hump Back whales, manta rays, dolphins and the rare Dugong.
The Indian Ocean Turtle breed on the beaches while sailfish and marlin do so offshore in the deper waters of the Bazaruto Marine Park.
Even though the Bazaruto Islands are ideal for peace and solitude, there are lots of things to do in the five islands. Kayaking and parasailing in the turquoise waters especially on the 2-mile long reef.
To visit around the Bazaruto Archipelago, take a boat ride and enjoy scuba diving and surfing sessions along the way. Other fun sessions include game fishing and dhow safaris.
Best time to visit Bazaruto Archipelago is all year round except June and July.
