Auchi is a city of some 150,000 in the Edo Region of southwest Nigeria. It is a college town, being home to Auchi Polytechnic. The city lies around 400 km east of Nigeria’s capital, Lagos and around 133 km northeast of Benin City, which is capital of the Edo State.
The nearest international airport to Auchi is Port Harcourt Airport, which is around 320 km to the south. There is a closer regional airport at Benin City, some 110 km to the southwest. The A6, A2 and A3 are the major roads south and the A122 and A121 run west to Lagos. The A2 runs north and the A3 is the main eastern route. The area has a tropical climate and can be visited year round.

A popular festival is the Uchi Day which is a celebration in honour of the founding fathers of Auchi Land. The rich culture of this town is usually on showcase and a good tourist event. Others are Irhua which celebrates the various age groups and Umogbai which is a ceremony marking the formal investiture of a new King. Auchi Polytechnic is another top attraction in Auchi.
