Naran is a medium sized city which is located in Kaghan Valley. Famous for its scenic views and beauty, Naran has been a hub for tourists – the location is also great further inciting tourists to come and visit. The tourist season in Naran runs from June to August, where there is daily transportation running from Manshera to Naran.

Saif-ul-Maluk

1. Lake Saif-ul-Malook

Located in the Northern area of Kaghan, close to Naran, Lake Saif- ul-Malook is one of the highest lakes of  Pakistan, 10,578 feet about sea level. The lake holds many different types of fish, but the trout  fish is most  famous. Saif-ul-Malook is best to visit after June, once  the glaciers open. The only way to reach the lake is  either  on a donkey or a 4 by 4 jeep because it’s located on the top of a steep hill.

Kunhar River is located about 30 minutes from Naran Valley. The river flows through the entire Naran, Kaghan, alhad, Balakot, Garhi, Habibullah and Dalola valley and it merges with Jhelum River right outside Muzaffarabad. Kunhar River is famous for its hydro power generation potential.

In Naran there is one main road where most hotels, shopping areas and restaurants are located. People tend to eat at the hotels they are staying at, but in case one wants to treck out there are a variety of food options available. Trout is the specialty of this area, and you must eat it when you visit! It is absolutely delicious.

Most of the shops in Naran sell local items, such as handicrafts, woolen shawls, jewelry boxes etc. Kaghan is well known for woolen shawls and rugs, so one could definitely treck there during the stay in Naran.
